Celebrate lights, not sound!

Celebrate Lights, not Sound! Despite being writing and terming Diwali as the festival of lights, we are deeply engaged in turning the festival into a festival of sound. The festival's origin according to the Hindu mythology is the sheer joy and happiness that was expressed by the people of that time on the return of Lord Rama along with his wife, Sita after the victory over the demon - Ravana. Apart from the traditional belief, some modern communities take it just as a festival of lights that mark the victory of brightness (Positivity) over darkness (Negativity). Be that as it may, focusing on the title and yes, keeping the 'Pollution' thing aside, I'd like to put a very relevant question here.  "Are we really celebrating Diwali as a festival of lights?" Now, I am not doubtful of your answers. Because, clearly we see how we really are celebrating the festival. It is a clear concept that along with development, comes the negative side of the s

Writers' world

Writers' World The clock was striking two when I completed my writing last night. People are seen working late nights but writers actually work only at nights. May be because the ghosts of writing appear only at nights. Some writers are stuck with writing at early morning who are first wished good morning by the sun. No matter when the writers do hold their pen and flow their ideas onto paper, their job is really tough. You will find two types of writers - Full time writer who is engaged in writing whole day, and part time writer who does other job and writes as well. However, many people have a mentality that writers' work is too easy. They think writers just need to write and publish and earn money. Nevertheless, no work is ever easy and the job of a writer is entirely different from other jobs. If you work in a company under someone, it is so because your qualifications clearly say you are meant to be under someone. And if you think your work is so tough, how w
Following your Passion  Life without a passion for something is worthless. In the materialistic world of today, many have set their passion inside or even aside. They give stress on what we call "career" as if they can never pursue their passion as their careers. Well, career, job, money are just a part of life. However, running behind your passion and dreams is the art of life. When an intellectual speaks something, you must be feeling like he knows better than you. But that is the only time when  your mind compels you to think  'what if i had that extraordinary talent or knowledge which everyone doesn't have?' Isn't it?  Who doesn't have a job today? Even a beggar struggles to earn 500 a day. Most of the educated do earn. But how many do have passion regarding something? How many do you see to have occupied themselves for hours only to heighten their passion? How many have really made their passion their career? Above all, how many have struggl

Why ideas don't strike all the time?

Why ideas don't strike all the time? Well, this seems to be a very frequent yet witty question that why ideas don't strike all the time. Our brain is a fragile organ. It has the memory that is mostly temporary. And idea is something which arrives in two forms - one is when you think about something rapidly and creatively, second is it arises instantly out of nowhere. Thus, human minds are not really engaged in thinking something rapidly and creatively all the time as a result of which, ideas don't strike always. And instant ideas strike very less when your brain is really active and highly interested towards something. When your mind is attracted towards something, it tries to gather more possibilities and chances to do those things which it wants to. For example, if a man is interested in writing, then he gathers plots for his stories from anything and anywhere. That may be from some animated movie or a song or may be a newspaper article. This happens because his mind is

Humanities

Humanities S omeone recently questioned me about the reason why I chose Humanities rather than choosing Science or Commerce. Well, I sometimes wonder the reason why people questioned me so much about this when they gained knowledge about my really good scores in boards. Later I came to know that the way people look at Humanities is entirely different from the way I do. This is 21st century. Yet, most of the educated people have misconceptions regarding the streams of study, let alone be the uneducated class. People give stress to science at the first place, and if a child scores average, he or she is put into commerce and the rest into Humanities. This trend is continuing till today and the only reason behind is the lack of knowledge in parents as well as students. Somewhere, parents don't know the importance of humanities in a society. So even if a child desires to learn humanities, the parents usually discourage. And at other times, children don't understand the val

Waiting...

Waiting...  "On an inexperienced long path  When you gently crossed my way  A fascination stroke my heart And my darkest night turned into a bright day..." Never knew life would show unexpected things at unexpected times and surprisingly, with unexpected persons. Patience is one of the biggest elements of life that can make up something or break it up too! Patience is important, but not all the time. Things need to be done at the right time no matter how sweet the thing is. Like sweets can't be consumed all the time, patience, though a thing of importance and demand can't be practiced all the time. Sometimes, you just need to take other steps rather than testing your own patience and sobbing hidden tears.  Still waiting for the perfect person to dive into these words and find out a box of treasure to be stored as a memory forever...   ©Anindita Janhabee Swaro

MEMORIES

MEMORIES... Sweet moments stored forever in a heart - Memories, are like the pearls stored in a sea, shine stored in the sun and twinkle stored in a star. Memories aren't built intentionally but the moments you enjoy to the fullest turn into sweet memories the next moment. Some of them give you pain, some give pleasure. Yet, the combination of both becomes the most memorable part of your life. Memories need not be written or photographed all the time. They just need to be remembered and cared forever. Not mind, but heart is the best place to hold memories. Memories can be made unforgettable when stored in the core of your heart. They're like evaporating water. You turn off the heat or see those evaporating. Never let your ego or anger turn into heat and evaporate the memories. No matter bitter or sad, memories always make you realize who you were, how you were and helps you create a better you today...  ©Anindita Janhabee Swaro
